The New Anatomical Facial Implants

Just a few years ago, a chin or cheek implant was a pretty crude affair. They were often cut from a block of silicone in the operating room by the surgeon and relied on the tissue around them to produce the shape. In the past few years, the companies who supply these products to us have produced beautiful contoured, tapered and shaped implants. Silicone Now Used As a Facial Filler

Although remaining controversial, silicone is one of the best permanent fillers for lips and lines of the face doctors have ever had. It is “approved” by the FDA for eye use, and so has the same status as Radiesse® for facial use: “off label”. In other words, doctors are allowed to use medicines that are approved for one use for other areas of the body. We do offer these silicone micro-droplets for injection into facial creases. It’s a complex story, so be sure to ask about it when you come in for your facial filler. It’s not for everyone.
