15 - What Price Beauty?Facial Laser PeelAn aesthetician (a manicurist or cosmetician) can do a very light chemical peel in a spa for as little as $50. This produces a "freshening" effect without any significant wrinkle or scar relief. Physician-performed procedures have a higher complication rate — and that means a chance of facial scarring — in anyone's hands. You're better off with someone who may charge a little more but knows the field better. Full face, laser peel or deep chemical peel: $2,000 to $5,000 Partial face: $750 to $1,500 Full face, Glycolic peel or light TCA peel: $200 to $1,000 Eyelid ReconstructionUpper lids or lower lids alone: $1,500 to $2,500 All four lids: $3,500 to $6,000 Facelift$1,000 to $25,000 (I'd recommend avoiding the $1,000 surgeon) Most are between $5,000 to $6,000 for the facelift alone. Adding other facial procedures will increase the cost. Nose Improvement/Reconstruction$3,500 to $8,000 is usual. Sometimes insurance will pay a portion if your breathing is impaired. Chin Augmentation/ReductionAlloplastic chin implant: $1,500 Genioplasty: $2,500 to $10,000 Hair TransplantMost patients receive about 750 to 1,500 grafts per session, and some ultimately need 2,000 to 3,000. Per graft: $4 to $8. Some are doing $3 grafts now. Breast ImplantsThis is expensive because of silicone litigation. Each implant represents a few dollars worth of plastic, but its wholesale cost to the doctor is about $350 for saline to $850 for silicone gel, per implant. Cost to the patient: $4,500 to $7,500. A few surgeons are cheaper. VeinsTreatment often requires multiple sessions. Some doctors are very proficient and are able to eliminate most of the veins in one session. Injections: $200 to $1,000 per session Larger veins: $1,500 to $2,500 per leg, sometimes more. This involves surgery. ![]()
